The MAX5881 is a 12-bit, 4,3 GSPS Cable Downstream Direct RF Synthesis DAC. It can be used for multi channel Up Converter implementation if used with a high performance FPGA (Virtex5-SX) for digital signal processing to convert the base band channel coded streams to a very high speed digital stream.

The MAX5881 can place the channels virtually anywhere from 0 to 2GHz. This solution can support up 16 channels. RF engineering is greatly simplified by using advanced digital techniques that reduces the analog RF part of the design to very few components.
Compact and high performance design can be achieved at reasonable engineering and production cost.
